Introduction - ARCH: Asian Research Center for Housing
ARCH is an anchor of "Asian Housing Education & Research Network" which serves as a professional network for the researchers and professionals in the area of housing studies in Asian regions. The objective of ARCH is to establish a regional identity of Asian housing studies. ARCH integrates the individual housing studies from each Asian country, encourages academic exchange among professionals, and eventually produces a comparative research across Asian countries.
ARCH's activities comprise research and education:
In research side, we are interested in housing culture and lifestyle, typology, design, interior design, policy and marketing. Chronologically, our coverage is broad including traditional housing, modern housing and contemporary housing. ARCH regularly offers an international forum to encourage cross-cultural discussions.
In education side, we focus on housing design and property development & management. We along with the University of Malaya have offered a four month program "Southeast Asia Housing Design" held in Malaysia since 2009. We have also offered one month "International Housing Program" in Hong Kong with the University of Hong Kong since 2008.
